Scratchpad is a quickanddirty notetaking tool with a minimum of frills, meant to show up when you need it and get out of the way when you don't.
Programmers can use it to document code changes as they happen without having an extra program on their taskbar, or writer and students can use it to store snippets of text temporarily.
