with this firefox addon you can copy selected text without any formatting such as italic, bold, font size, etc. just select text, right click and from context menu choose "copy as plain text". addon is customizable, so from options dialog you can choose some copy options. in the copy plain text 2 feature "make as default copy action" not require application restart. specially designed for autocopy2.
special features:
it supports replacing special characters with normal substitutes. for example, when copying something containing an apostrophe you may end up with this:

but by enabling its "reformat special characters" option (see screenshot), you will be able to paste the originally intended text. such as, for the above example:
