applications with full read/write/edit capability can be created against its builtin dbf engine and against mysql, oracle, ms sql server, db2, enterprisedb, postgresql and any other sql database engines through odbc sources, like ms access mdb files. the latest version now incorporates portable sql, a feature that allows users to switch database back ends without having to rewrite queries.
